Each bowl begins with a handmade belly cast taken during pregnancy (33-36 weeks) using plaster, capturing the unique shape and softness of this moment in time. The ceramic piece is then carefully formed over the cast, creating an organic vessel that reflects the body it was made from.
Every bowl is handmade in stoneware clay and finished with a transparent glaze that preserves the natural texture and character of the clay beneath. Available in either natural white stoneware or black clay. Each bowl is a one-of-a-kind imprint of motherhood, designed to be both functional and deeply personal.
The Belly Bowl
Place your order online. A DIY belly casting kit will be couriered to you, including:
- Plaster bandages
- Basic instructions for creating your belly cast
- Packaging guidelines for return shipping (if applicable)
- Once your belly cast is completed and fully dry, it can be carefully packaged and couriered back or if you reside in Cape Town it can be dropped off at our studio in Seapoint. Take note:Return courier of the plaster cast is the responsibility of the client. Your completed Belly Bowl will be couriered to you once finished.

- Plaster casts are not returned after production unless specifically requested beforehand.
- Production lead time is approximately 4–8 weeks from receiving your cast.
- As each piece is handmade from an individual body cast, slight variations and organic imperfections are part of the final work.
- Belly Bowls are both sculptural keepsakes and functional ceramic vessels, but should still be handled with care like any handmade ceramic piece.
- Timing for belly casting is usually recommended during the third trimester, when the belly shape is most defined.
